Theme: Back to School
Open mic sign up at 7:30pm
Show starts at 8pm
Start packing lunches and buying books. Summer is closing out and the school year is kicking off! Join Dana Norris and the rest of Story Club as they welcome to the stage six performers who are going to get you into the learning mood through Chicago's thriving literary community. Ingredients include:
3 Featured Performers
3 Open Micers
1 Loud Mouth Hostess
An audience that votes for the winner with their cash money.
Three selected featured performers and 3 open-mic submissions will be chosen and, at the command of host Dana Norris, will tell their story in relation to the theme Back to School. Open micers need not to stick to the theme. The best story of the night will win a trophy and a lifetimes worth of pride! The audience votes for their favorite piece, and the winning story will be published in Story Club Magazine!
Story Club North Side is held in the back room of Holiday Club (4000 N Sheridan Rd) the first Thursday of every month. Entrance is free, and a suggested $10 donation is greatly appreciated.
Open mic sign up starts at 7:30pm, and we have 3 open mic slots. If more than 3 open micers sign up then we'll draw names from a coconut monkey to see who's performing. Open mic slots are 8 minutes (1300 words).
Holiday Club has been serving comfort food and cool cocktails for over 19 years. They are a 21+ venue that features nightly food & drink specials (including Story Club specials!) along with a very groovy atmosphere.

Tripping: Tales of Journeys Real or Imagined
Open mic sign up at 7:30pm. Show starts at 8pm.
What is the anatomy of a journey? Can your mind take a wild trip while your body stays in bed? What if your body is dragged across the sea while your thoughts are glued to the comforts of home? Can you return to the person you were at the onset, or does a trip have to change you to be a trip at all? Help us answer these questions at Story Club South Side in September as we go Tripping!
Story Club South Side is held in the main room of Co-Prosperity Sphere (3219 S Morgan St) the third Tuesday of every month. Entrance is free and a suggested $10 donation is greatly appreciated.
Open mic sign up starts at 7:30pm and we have 2 open mic slots. If more than 2 open micers sign up then we'll draw names from a coconut monkey to see who's performing. Open mic slots are 8 minutes (1300 words). Once all is said and done, the audience will vote for their favorite story of the night. Winner receives and big, steaming, heaping pile of bragging rights. Oh, and a spot in the Story Club Magazine.
Co-Prosperity Sphere is an experimental cultural center located in Bridgeport, The Community of the Future. The venue is a working gallery space and is open to all ages.
Story Club South Side is BYOB (we suggest Maria's Packaged Goods, just up the street) and BYOPie (we suggest Pleasant House Bakery, which is right next to Maria's, for the very best English meat pies you have ever had, son.)
